Myrna FickenMyrna Ficken

Myrna Ficken is a busy, outgoing artist with a passion for quilting and creating!  She is an exceptionally talented, award-winning quilter and a well-known educator in the longarm quilting industry.

Myrna has traveled and taught at quilt shows and other quilting events all over the United States as well as at various international events. She brings a fresh outlook to her classes and techniques and encourages students to be progressive and innovative. 

Myrna is a generous and gracious educator who sincerely enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with others. Her enthusiasm for the art and her dynamic personality are contagious and bring a positive sense of energy to all of her classes and gives her students confidence.

This is a beginner to intermediate class. So many feathers….so little time!  Myrna will start with her simple feather designs and then jazz them up until they sizzle! 

See techniques for swags,wreaths, allover feathers as well as block designs and adding decorative threads. All designed to make those feather designs blaze on your quilts!

Thursday, Aug. 5th, 1-4
Class Type - Drawing
Skill Level - Everyone

Stumped on a current quilt project? Bring your tops that have you stumped and at a loss. Myrna will share her ideas for quilting them. You will be amazed once you see it through different eyes and get your creativity rolling.  Pricing for the quilting will also be discussed.

Class # 410 - Just Do It
Friday, Aug. 6th, 8-11
Class Type - Hands-on with longarm machine
Skill Level - Beginner/Confident Beginner

Learn fillers, flowers and all kinds of jazzy and funky freehand designs that can be used on any quilt.  Think “outside of the box” to create fast and easy edge-to-edge designs.  Work with border design which can carry into sashings and blocks.  Spend time stitching in the ditch and learning alternatives.  Bring current quilt projects to discuss, if class time allows.

Class # 303 - Gotta Love Samplers
Thursday, Aug. 5th, 9-11
Class Type - Lecture/Drawing
Skill Level - Everyone

This is a beginner/intermediate level class in which I'll teach you my method of working a sampler from start to finish. You'll see samplers in a whole new light! Learn how to stabilize your sampler to work around the quilt, block to block. Your handouts will provide blocks to draw the designs I show you. We will do as many as possible during this 2 hour class

There is a $5.00 handout fee for this class
