Bobbie BergquistBobbie Bergquist

Bobbie Bergquist is a quilt maker who strives to keep things simple, quick and fun. She is the inspiration for Quilters Treasure, whose goal is to give quilters an artist’s palette. Her husband Joel created fabric which has inspired her and many other quilters to expand their creativity. Bobbie has taught in 38 states including Hawaii, and conducts workshops and seminars at many quilt shows, guilds and shops. Most recently, Bobbie has taught at Road To California, Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival, Hampton, VA & Quilt Fest of New Jersey, Somerset NJ, Denver National Quilt Festival, Denver, CO & Pacific International Quilt Festival, Santa Clara, CA. Bobbie was a teacher and featured speaker in 2008 at La Roche College Quilt Show, Pittsburg, PA and at the New Berlin Quilt Show, New Berlin, NY. Both Bobbie and Joel taught at the Minnesota Quilters 2008 Annual Show & Conference, Rochester, MN. Bobbie also taught at Quilters Heritage Celebration, Lancaster, PA in 2008 and 2009.

Joel and Brian, their son – and also of Quilters Treasure, provide the Hand Painted Marble fabric used in many of Bobbie’s stained glass quilts. Bobbie was the visionary who saw the need for Quilters Treasure to produce their own line of a commercial print of this uniquely beautiful fabric, making larger cuts and lower prices available for commercial and hand-painted fabric. Their fabric is now available in 54 delicious colors. Bobbie and Joel have successfully sponsored a mentor program, bringing new designers into the quilting world, and sponsor their yearly “Quilters Treasure Challenge”.

Tsukineko InkClass # 312 Being Creative with Tsukineko Ink
Thursday, Aug. 5th, 8-11 & 1-4 (All day class)
Class Type - Painting
Skill Level - Everyone

Are you looking for something different in fabrics? Would you like to design your own fabric? Are you interested in selecting your own colors and textures? Why not join us and learn more than 20 techniques using Tsukineko All Purpose Inks & Fabrico Pens. They can be used on both natural & man made textiles with no special fabric preparation. A few of the techniques covered are marbling & drawing with shaving cream, using silk screens & stencils, using tone on tone & black & white fabrics, lace, faux shibori, salt, crayons, rubber stamps & aloe vera. You will also learn how to use inks to color fabric and prevent bleeding, techniques for creating your own border fabric, ways to expand your stash and add colors missing from fabrics and so much more. You will no longer be limited to using fabric off the rack.

Quilters Treasure will share with you how their one of kind marble fabric is created. Learn about the products used by the professionals and become familiar with supplies, what to do and what not to do. Why do paint colors react differently and how they affect each other? Due to the nature of the commercial products, this technique can not be done in class which is why we have developed the use of the Tsukineko Inks in ways you can use it at home. This is a chance to ask questions & get answers from the professionals.

Tsukineko inks can also be used on any porous surfaces; wood, leather, tiles, ceramics, pottery & more. No previous experience is needed and it's fun for all ages.

Kit fee of $40.00 is paid at the beginning of the class to the Instructor.
Kit includes various fabrics, 6 bottles of Tsukineko Ink; (red, yellow, blue, green, white & black), work sheet & scraper.  Other colors can be purchased after class @ $3.50 for colors & $4.25 for gold, silver, copper & 3 pearlized inks.  There are 45 colors available.
