Bobbie and Joel have created a class that will show you how to make, use and clean silk screens. You will be using Tsukineko All Purpose Ink to create solid colors or marbled shaving cream to add dimension to your work; personalizing your clothing and/or quilts. It’s easy and works on all fabrics – natural and man-made with no special preparation required. Create your own fabric. Silk Screen starter kits can be purchased for under $50.00 after class at Quilters Treasure Booth.
Materials: $40.00 class kit. You will make your own silk screen in class to take home. Also included various sample fabrics, 6 bottles of Tsukineko Ink; (red, yellow, blue, green, white & black), work sheet & scraper. Other colors can be purchased after class @ $3.45 for colors & $4.20 for Gold, Silver, Copper, Champagne Mist, Black Pearl & Frost White.
Tsukineko Inks have 45 colors available. Full kits of remaining 39 colors can be ordered prior to class at the show special price of $122.00.
Silk Screen Kits can be ordered prior to class at $47 which includes all sales tax & shipping for only for orders received 30 days prior to class. If you are interested in purchasing a starter kit in class please notify us of what class location you will be attending at least 30 days prior to class.
Supplies to bring:
Wear old clothing. Bring latex gloves if you don’t want to get ink on your hands. (Ink is water based and cleans up with soap & water) 1 large zip lock bag, trash bag, paper towels, tooth picks, can of shaving cream (lightly or unscented if possible, Dollar Store works best) plastic coffee stirrer from fast food restaurant, popsicle stick or similar tool, small paint brushes, or any other tool you would like to experiment with. Bring article(s) of clothing or fabric to apply silk screening. For clothing you will need a piece of cardboard or plastic to place under the fabric you are screening to prevent bleeding onto the back of the garment. You may also bring additional specialty fabrics and/or clothing to try.
